Pacman Demo

1. Download the software
          
            In order to run the Pacman Demo on the computer, your computer needs to meet these hardware and software requirements.
                    --(For more information check readme.txt)
           
            System Requirements Before installing Sun's J2ME Wireless Toolkit

            Required Software:
                    - Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition, Microsoft Windows NT, Microsoft Windows 2000 or  Microsoft Windows XP.

            Required Hardware:
                    - 30 Mbytes disk (140 Mbytes with Forte for Java)
                    - 64 Mbytes system RAM (128 Mbytes for Forte for Java)
                    - 166 MHz CPU (300 MHz for Forte for Java)
   
            Here are links to the free copies of the software and code that you can use to test the Pacman Demo.

            Java 2 SDK Standard Edition, version 1.3.0
            J2ME Wireless Toolkit 1.0.3
            Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC)--option
            Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP)--option
            Pacman Code

2. Install the software


1) Install Java 2 SDK Standard Edition.
--After downloading , just run the file.

--It will Automatically run the configuration and go to the Setup page.

--Follow the Step by Step instructions to finish the installation.

--You don't need to restart your computer.




2) Install the J2ME Wireless Toolkit 1.0.3
--After downloading just run the file.

--It will Automatically run the configuration and go to the Setup page.

--Follow the Step by Step instructions to finish the installation.

--Keep the default path for file install.

--You don't need to restart your computer.



3. Setup for Pacman Demo

1) Open J2ME
--After installing the J2ME Wireless Toolkit with default settings

--Go to START->J2ME Wireless Toolkit 1.0.3

--Click on kToolBar to open
 

2) Setup J2ME-1
--After opening the J2ME Wireless Toolkit

--Go to New Project, and click

--when New Project Windows Pop up, put pacman for both Project Name and MIDlet Class Name
--Click Create Project, then ok


--New window will show the following messages

Creating project "pacman"

Place Java source files in "c:\J2mewtk\apps\pacman\src"

Place Application resource files in "c:\J2mewtk\apps\pacman\res"

Place Application library files in "c:\J2mewtk\apps\pacman\lib"

Note: Only lower case works for the Project Name.





3) Setup J2ME-2
--Go to Device

--Choice Motorola_i85s



4. Import Pacman Code

Import Pacman Code
--After downloading the zip file, just choose to open the file.

--It will Automatically run Unzip program.

--Click Extract To

--In Extraction path and options, use C:\J2mewtk\apps\pacman\src as Destination path

--Click OK to extract the code




5. Build and Run Pacman Demo

1) Build Pacman Demo
--After Import Pacman Code
--Click build.
 
--It will Automatically Build "Pacman"

--New window will show the following messages

Building "Pacman"

Build complete


2) Run Pacman Demo
--After Building Pacman Demo
--Click Run.

--It will Automatically run  "Pacman" on the Emulator

--Use mouse to click the button under screen text Launch


 5. How to play the Pacman Demo
           
            Pacman is designed to be easily playable by anyone, and so controls are simple to learn and understand.
            The following is a basic overview of controls for the game.

1) Play Demo
--After launching the game, the main play screen appears.

--Pacman is able to move around the game board by pressing the arrow keys on the cell phone, as indicated.

--Pacman can move anywhere on the board, but cannot move through walls.

--Pacman will eat the small pellets as he moves over them.

2) Exit Demo
--To exit the game press the Exit button on the phone, shown in the figure.
